This was coming. Zelensky saw it, but because the Ukraine is not part of NATO, hands are tied. He has stayed with this people and is perhaps the bravest leader I will know in my lifetime.

This is where I get confused though. Russia sent a missile up and blew up a satellite in November – nothing was done about that. The blatant disregard for human life and the invasion of the Ukraine along with the bombing of nuclear sites should be getting our full attention. And it has gotten our attention, but not our action. But there is a bigger piece of American responsibility that is not getting any attention at all which is the impact that the Trump presidency had on the psyche of Putin.

“They say, ‘Trump said Putin’s smart.’ I mean, he’s taking over a country for two dollars’ worth of sanctions,” Trump told a crowd at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, according to a recording of the event. “I’d say that’s pretty smart. He’s taking over a country — really a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people, and just walking right in.”

The issue is that we (Americans) allowed Putin to effect our election and beating all odds, Putin was able to manipulate the American disenfranchised pubic to follow Trump and put him into office. Even when Trump lost and tried to hold a coup on January 6th, “These are not looters or thieves, these people came with political requests,” Putin said of the pro-Trump mobs that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

But prior to this, Trump sent Giuliani to the new President of the Ukraine to see if he would dig up some dirt on Biden’s son and to that end, point the dirty dealings of the election interference to the Ukraine. But there should have been at least one indication that he would be able to step up to the moment: Zelensky’s adept navigation, in 2019, of the impossible situation of being blackmailed by the president of the United States, as the president of Russia pointed its guns directly at his nation’s heart. Since Zelensky didn’t agree, he lost out on 400 million of American military support to fight back against the Russian backed separatists. Trump holds a grudge and when someone had the balls to stand up, Trump has a tantrum. So it is no wonder he sides with Putin.

For Putin, Trump is a puppet. He almost got Trump to pull out of Nato and luckily Congress didn’t follow. But Trump and his supporters are Putin supports. So Fuck that. No way to politically say it politely. We are on the verge of another World War. If we don’t help, if we don’t know the back story, then shame to us. Putin has been emboldened by the spineless American reaction to a temper tantrum Trump and his cult like followers who have seemed to fall into the twit-tok-universe of self absorption. It is time to wake up and help those who have fallen under the maniacal reach of Putin and the wanton destruction of human life.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said to the US, “I don’t need a ride, I need ammunition” Glory to Ukraine.
