Dr. Angle Johnson has been my Dr. I think since 2015. Would have to check the meds records, but she is my go to.

I was seeing a guy one town over and kept complaining about prolapsing. I had Cervical and Uterine cancer back when I was 33 and when you take things out, gravity takes over. I knew gravity was wining and after getting no positive response from my (Male) Dr. This Dr. would have me lay down and assume the position of feet up in the stirrups and then would say, “nothing looks out of place to me” because when he stood up he wouldn’t have body mass the size of a golf ball fall out his twat.

On a whim, there was this new Boston Urology about 3 minutes from where I was living. I walked in, approached the receptionist and asked a few questions. 1. Do you and a urogynecologist? 2. Do you guys do DSMO for IC? 3: Is the Dr. a woman 4. Are there openings?

Yes to all. So before I canned my regular guy, I booked a meet and greet. The day of the apt. I went in, filled out all the paper work then this sweet little thing brought me to a room gave me a gown and said put this one, the Dr. will be in a moment.

Sorry, you must not have gotten then note, I don’t undress on the first date and this is a meet and greet to see if I like the Dr. My candor must have been a shock’a, because she said ok, left the room and came back and stated the Dr. will see you in her office.

We chatted about her training, her call to do this field, her goals for staying with GBU. She is super smart, tall and frankly a black women in the medical field have to work harder the men, asian females and almost every other ethnic/gender group. In rounds, even with the white coat, people think they are are an orderly. This I have witnessed while doing my 2 years of Clinical Pastoral Education at 3 of the major hospitals in Boston and 100% in Vermont. So, my thinking from the get to was she was tough and tenacious.

That started a relationship where she understood my medical trauma history and on the 2nd apt. after going though my history she asked an odd question:

“Are you comfortable with standing up, I will bend down and I want you push your pelvis, as if you need to pee. I want to see what you are feeling as a prolapse.” I was shocked, expressed that I would probably pee on her or worse, and she was not phased. “it happens all the time, don’t worry”.

So I did and she saw the golfball prolapse pop right out. Next thing you know, after a couple of scans and blood tests, she rebuild my pelvis. Anterior and posterior prolapse, plus fixing get class 4 tare from have 9.3 lb babies. She did a hydro and certified the IC. 6 weeks of recovery and a few DSMO, Pt for a year and I was able to run again.

I bought a purple bike, but that was pushing it. But for the most point I went into remission with her treatment.

Fast forward to Covid and moving back to VT, I looked for providers. There is only one provider who does trigger point injections. And frankly she never read the chart and her manners were terrible. I found a good gyno, but she does not do trigger points and I found a Uro guy who does hydros, but no DSMO. So Boston it is.

What I have learned living with this condition is to treat this with humor. I have pelvic floor Hyperion which I get trigger point injections for. I am a clinical tight ass. I also have Interstitial Cystitis, so that makes me a real Piss’a. I have a bag of party tricks from Mass Cell Activation Syndrome and when active I squeak or blow up like a balloon.

However, I don’t get hives other issues with that last one. What I do have is humor, because if I didn’t I would cry. I am tenacious and will find the right person to do the best job, I only have one body. This time, do to scheduling the DSMO’s were scheduled out and I was able to convince them to get them done 1x weekly because that is best practice and gets me back to work. And most importantly I am so very grateful to have Dr. J. My Angel.
